Our client AMPCO METAL is a leading international manufacturer and integrated distributor of specialty copper alloys and engineered products. Major industries served include chemical and petroleum, machine tools, primary metal producers, transportation, and a wide range of industrial and commercial machinery. AMPCO METAL manufactures a wide range of alloys in a variety of grades and conditions and distributes them through its worldwide network of service centers.

Job profile

In the position of Operations Manager, you are responsible for this location, the European distribution centre, for all the AMPCO products. You lead the team (20 FTE), inspire, determine the milestones and the budget. But above all, you have the overview, and strong focus on teambuilding and internal process improvement.

As Operations Manager you will focus on LEAN techniques, quality management and cost control to achieve business goals as well as to build strong customer satisfaction. In this role you maintain a safe working environment and promote positive team dynamics. You continuously strive for improvement, and you develop employees through training and coaching.

Key responsibilities:

• Managing the daily business and operations
• Lead and develop the team
• Improving the process using tools like 5S, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• Develop the personal skills and employability of the team members
• Intensive communication with other AMPCO locations and staff
• Asset Management
• You are reporting to AMPCO’S EVP Procurement & Fulfillment
  

Job requirements:

• HBO education level
• Analytical level thinking or work experience preferred
• Minimum of five years’ experience managing a production or operations team
• Prior experience in logistics / distribution and/or production experience in metal field.
• Good knowledge of material properties, ideally with nonferrous alloys
• Working knowledge with 5S, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
• Good digital and software skills in for example ERP and digitalization projects
• Fluent in English and Dutch
• You are resident of The Netherlands

You are a strong coach and team captain with a hands on practical work approach. With good communication skills you are an inspiring leader for the team. You prefer varied job activities and are daily present in the distribution center. Integrity, teamwork and honesty are very important for you. Personal you are accurate and analytical. Working with a strong eye on KPI’s and budget.
